Bigtorage is a startup specializing in energy solutions, particularly platforms and technologies related to Energy Storage Systems (ESS). It was founded in July 2019 by CEO Tae-Seung Lee (37).
Bigtorage operates with advanced control technology optimized for ESS, including PMS (Power Management System) and the upper-level EMS (Energy Management System) platform.
PMS, a critical component of ESS alongside batteries and PCS (Power Conversion Systems), plays a key role in integrating all devices, equipment, and sensors within the ESS system. It collects data locally and performs real-time control.

Delivered as a cloud-based service, it allows users to check and control system status anytime, anywhere.
The platform supports essential features such as statistics, analysis, and reporting, along with advanced services like power trading and VPP (Virtual Power Plant), making it a smart energy platform.
Extensive Experience and Proven Expertise
Bigtorage has built 15% of the total ESS installation capacity in Korea, amounting to over 400 sites with a cumulative capacity exceeding 1 GWh.
The company has successfully implemented all ESS applications, including peak shaving, frequency regulation (FR), photovoltaic (PV), wind power, and microgrids.
This extensive experience and technical know-how give Bigtorage a significant competitive advantage in the ESS market.

ESS is a complex field combining expertise in both power and IT domains.
Bigtorage integrates its knowledge into software development, resulting in highly reliable solutions.
The company's proprietary "Auto-Mapping" technology enables cost savings of up to 80% compared to competitors.

Growth and Investment
Bigtorage received its first seed investment in 2023 and successfully closed a Pre-A funding round in September, raising a cumulative total of 1.8 billion KRW.
According to CEO Tae-Seung Lee, the company aims to close a Series A round in the first half of next year to support its expansion in Vietnam’s ESS market, including team building and project costs.
Team and Future Plans
Bigtorage currently has 11 team members, including the CEO, vice president, two members in the management support team, two in the business team, four in the development team, and one head of the Vietnam office.
The company has established a local entity in Vietnam to focus on the rapidly growing ESS market there.
Domestically, Bigtorage aspires to become an influential energy company in the ESS sector.
Support and Recognition
In 2024, Bigtorage was selected for the Startup Advancement Support Program by Hanam University, aimed at scaling startups in their growth phase (3-7 years post-establishment).
This program provides up to 300 million KRW in commercialization funds and services, including business diagnostics, market and consumer analysis, investment strategies, and more.
